Farmacias close at the weekends but each town has a duty chemist, see the rota on chemists doorways.

 
Churches

There are catholic churches in every town and village, several in Mahon and Ciutadella. The cathedral is in Ciutadella. Santa Maria is the parish church of Mahon.

Gas

All cooking gas used in Menorca is brought from Repsol butane. Lorries deliver the bright orange cylinders or you can buy and collect from the butane depot on the Mahon to Ciutadella road just outside Mahon.

 
Markets

Mahon has a daily fruit, meat and fish market in the town centre, the fish market on Saturday lunch time offers different local foods prepared and cooked, which can be enjoyed with a drink and live music, open air itinerant.

Motoring

Vehicles drive on the right of the road. When walking always face oncoming traffic.

When turning right, motorcyclists make a halt sign with their left hand.

Do not stop on corners to look at maps, this can cause serious accidents

If in a hired car, always carry with you hire documents, driving licence and a photocopy of your passport.

Seat belts are compulsory.

Use of mobile phone when driving is an offence

Traffic police fine visitors on the spot.

Wherever parking is prohibited by a vado permanente – gual permanent sign, do not risk it the police crane may tow your car away. A yellow triangle is left on the pavement indicating the whereabouts of the pound.

The townhall has a free rubbish collection service at your door.

Opening times usually 9.00am to 13.30pm and then 16.30pm/17.00pm to 20.30pm

Supermarkets open Monday to Saturday 9.00am to 21.00pm most of bigger supermarkets are also open Sunday mornings.
